Found a little time this afternoon!

Well, I found a little time this afternoon so that I could get my April challenge done before the Patch meeting on Wednesday evening. At the March meeting we exchanged brown paper bags with a variety of items in them. If you brought a bag, you got to pick a bag. Well, my items from the bag I picked are in the left photo. Right away I saw an Indian maiden. I used a small banana gourd for her body and a jewelry gourd for her head. My brother had some hair extensions that I swapped some stuff for and by sewing some of it on a ribbon and attaching that to the "head" gourd, I got a beautiful head of hair that I braided. To use the beaded strand, I had to take some apart and retie. That worked out very well for her necklace and around the back of her leather robe. I cut out a space in the front of the body to fit over her moccasins. I did not use the heart with feather. It just seemed to big. I made a drum from the bottom piece of the banana gourd that I cut off and attached it all to a slice of rock that I had in the cabinet from the days when we used to go to the Tucson Gem Shows. All in all, for my first gourd doll, I am quite happy with the results.
